La Brea Tar pits

Today we went to the La Brea Tar Pits(Actually asphalt), where animals got stuck in the asphalt as long as 40 thousand years ago. You can smell the asphalt and see huge bubbles of gas exploding at the surface. We also took a tour of the dig sites. They currently have a 30 year backlog of excavated matter they haven't sorted through, so if you want to volunteer now's the time! After we drove through Beverly Hills and Hollywood.
